Sometimes, a hug a day is all what we need.

There is nothing in the world more reassuring than a comforting hug. Hugging has been proven to have health benefits. One study has shown that hugs increase levels of oxytocin, and reduce blood pressure.

Perhaps it is not always possible to be with your loved ones every time!

So what do we do!!??

We do the next best thing- Send a hug!

Send a hug day, also known as hugging day or national hug day occurs annually on the 21st of January. The holiday was founded in 1986 in Caro, Michigan, and has since spread to Canada, Australia, England, Germany and Poland.

It is a day that encourages us to embrace hugging and to give all those you care about a comforting squeeze virtually.

Send a hug day cards to loved ones.

The best way to remind loved ones that you are thinking of them is by surprising them with warm hugs. Send a cute teddy hug or great big bear hug. A special card can always create a warm smile on their faces and may help in solving their problems.

Hug day reminds me of the free hugs campaign.

The free hugs campaign is the real life story of Juan Mann. His sole mission was to reach out and hug strangers to brighten up their lives.

Free hugs campaign have been kick started in different countries; from Russia to China to Poland, Portugal Spain all across the United States, South Africa and his home town city Australia.

The website of the campaign, www.freehelpcampaign.org, tells the story of how Juan Mann had to return home to Sydney from London, with no one to come home to. Juan then got a marker and a cardboard, sought out a busy intersection and stood there holding up the sign aloft, with the words “Free Hugs” on both sides.

For 15 minutes, people just stared right through him. The first person who stopped and tapped him on his shoulder told him how her dog had just died that morning and how that morning had been the one year anniversary of her only daughter dying in a car accident. How what she needed then, when she felt most alone in the world, was nothing but a hug.

He got down on one knee, they put their arms around each other and when they parted, she smiled.

It is so lovely to see someone smile even for a moment, is worth it every time!
